Convoi Exceptionnel is known in the UK as an Oversize or Abnormal Load. However there are 27 individual terms for each of the member states throughout mainland Europe. These include: BredLast, Schwertransport, Special Transport & Transportes Especial.
Over the years the French term Convoi Exceptionnel has been widely accepted and adopted by most countries as the recognised umbrella term for anything “Wide, Long, High or Heavy” that moves by road across the European mainland.
While Hauliers transporting abnormal loads across Europe can generally display the wording “Convoi Exceptionnel” as the signs of choice, legislation for the Permits and licencing of routes varies dramatically, country by country.
Since 1983 EAF have been responsible for 1000s of successful Convoi Exceptionnel permitting and haulage projects throughout Europe.
We have extensive experience in applying and issuing permits for outsized loads in all European countries and a network of dedicated contacts across the Continent to help ensure a seamless transit.
Our unique client-first approach sees us work with both national & local governments and our customers to make the whole process as smooth as possible for you, including lobbying local authorities and carrying out detailed route surveys.
Over the years we have worked with clients from a diverse range of sectors that include some of the world’s largest renewable energy suppliers, global aerospace companies, the UK’s military as well as top tier clients form the civil construction, industrial, agricultural industries and more.
